Daniel Part 26 Perek 12 - Techias HaMeisim

"And at that time, Michoel will stand, the great prince willstand for the children of your people. There will be a time of trouble that has never been from the time there was a nation until this time.  At that time, your people will escape. Everything that is found written in the book will occur."

The time will come when nature and the heavenly system will ascribe complete destruction for Bnei Yisrael.  Michoel, who is one of the highest princes in Shamayim and is above the sarim who lead the heavenly system, will then stand up to defend Bnei Yisrael.

"And many of those sleeping in the earth of dust will awaken; these for everlasting life, these for disgrace, for everlasting detestation."

Michoel elucidated several points on techiyas hameisim. 1)He explained that the dead will arise in body and soul like they were in life, and therefore will be called by their previous names. 2) Only part of humankind will arise during techiyas hameisim. 3) Tzaddikim will arise, as well as reshaim. (This view differs from most other mefarshim who maintain that reshaim will not arise at all. 4)The tzaddikim and reshaim will receive payment for their deeds during this time.

"And youDaniel, keep the matter vague and seal the book until the time of the end, manywill ponder, and knowledge will increase."

It had been revealed to Daniel that the end of time was veryfar away, but this knowledge was for him alone, and he was not to reveal it toothers.  "Keep the matter vague"was also an instruction to Daniel to record the details of the end in an ambiguous way, so it cannot be easily elucidated.

"Knowledgewill increase" - The Rambam says that this refers to the many ideas andspeculations about the end of days, which will be proposed throughout thegenerations.

"And I, Daniel, saw, and behold, two others are standing, one on this side of the riverbank, and one on the other side of the riverbank.  And he said to the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, ‘Until when is the wondrous end?'"

Daniel saw the heavenly representatives who rule over the entire duration of that time. Their rule is limited until the time of the end, but it was not known tothem when their rule would end.

The Abarbanel says that these two angels are a reference to the two religions, Christianity and Islam, who are speaking to Gavriel, who represents Bnei Yisrael.

"And I heard the man dressed in linen who was above the waters of the river, and he raised his right hand and his left hand to the Shamayim, and he swore by the One who lives forever, that in a time period, time periods, and a half, and at the end of the dispersion of the hand and of the holy nation, all these will be finished."

The geulah will arrive in one of two ways, depending on the merits of Bnei Yisrael. The malach swore that the guelah would not be delayed past its last designated date, but he was not able to swear that the geulah would not bebefore this since Bnei Yisrael may merit it.  When the geulah arrives, all the troubles mentioned abovewill end.  According to the Abarbanel, the Islamic nation itself will then come to an end. This will happens when the "hand" is dispersed - the power of the Jewish nation is weakened, and the holy nation is dispersed- Bnei Yisrael is physically spreadout all over the world.
