Parshas Shemos: Rambam, Moreh Nevuchim - Moshe The Young Navi
The
Rambam in Moreh Nevuchim (2:45) writes that the first step on the path
of Nevua is when a person trains himself to develop in his heart a
desire to stand up against evil. It is the urge to get up and help and
save the tzibur, or even a single yachid, from his tormentors. This
spirit is called Ruach Hashem.
Moshe Rabbeinu from as soon as
he began to mature, possessed this spirit that revolutionized his
personality. It was with this spirit that he stood up to interfere in
a fight that was not his own and kill a Mitzri. It was with this same
spirit that he rose at the well to fend off the evil shepherds and
saved the daughters of Yisro. Moshe Rabbeinu simply could not tolerate
wrongdoing.
