Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach: Swimming Before Davening?
For medical reasons a person needed to go swimming as part of his therapy for a bad back. He asked Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach if he may do so before davening. Rav Shlomo Zalman asked him if after going swimming he would still daven BaZman. The person answered that he would daven at a 7 am minyan, to which Rav Shlomo Zalman confirmed that 7 am is BaZman.
The questioner then explained that he could go swimming later during the day but it would come at the expense of his learning schedule. Rav Shlomo Zalman said that in that case he may swim before davening. (Aleihu Lo Yibol OC 66)
