Perek Shira: Ruach - The Winds of Change, The Spirit of Old
Ever since the destruction of the Bais HaMikdash, Bnei Yisroel has been dispersed to the four ends of the earth. We've traveled through every generation, every locale, every different culture, and every conceivable "Mishugas". Our mission; not to be influenced and to remain true to our heritage. Very often we have failed, hence the continued lengthy Galus.
The word Ruach means, "spirit". It also means "wind". In the last hundred years alone we have seen a wave a new "ism"s that rose and fell. Usually taking our best and brightest down with them. There is no new "ism" and no magic formula that can finally rescue us from this bitter Galus. The only solution is to return to the spirit of old. The spirit of "Yisroel Saba". By returning to our forefather's roots, Hashem will send winds to the four corners of the world to lift us up and carry us away to Eretz Yisroel for the Geula Acharona, the final redemption.
Maybe this is pshat in the pasuk of the Shira of the "Ruach". "Oimar LaTzafon Teini, U'L'Teiman Al Tichla'i", Hashem says to the northern and southern winds, the destructive forces, the spirit of the times that have carried His children far away from Torah, stop your destruction. Havi'i Banai MeiRachok U'Bnoisai Miktzei Ha'Aretz", reverse your direction and use your power and speed to carry my sons and daughter back to me. Bring them back to Torah. Bring them back for the final redemption.
