Halacha - Jewish Wedding In Israel
Submitted by anonymous  Answered by Rav Peretz Moncharsh
Question: Is it possible for a couple who have had a civil wedding in the UK to still have a Jewish marriage in Israel afterwards? I understand that it Jewish law a civil marriage isnt recognised but could you confirm that it would not make it difficult for Jewish wedding to be permitted? Thank you
Answer:

There is no reason according to Halacha that a civil marriage performed outside of Israel should impede one from having a valid Jewish wedding in Israel. However, I am not familiar with the vagaries of the bureaucratic process to know if practically speaking there could be any complications.
