Halacha - Treif food in microwave
Submitted by a jew  Answered by Rav Peretz Moncharsh
Question: If a worker put treif food in my microwave, whats halacha
Answer: If he turned on the microwave and the food was uncovered long enough to splatter or emit steam, it is questionable if the microwave can be kashered at all. If the food was covered or only hot briefly, there is room to be lenient and the microwave should be thoroughly cleaned, left 24 hours unused, and a cup or bowl of water should be boiled on high for a number of minutes until the microwave if full of steam and the walls are wet.
