Halacha - Sefira, Shaving
Submitted by Benjamin Rose  Answered by Rav Peretz Moncharsh
Question: I just read your article regarding whether or not one should go to a wedding during the sefira! If we hold by someone such as Rav Moshe Finestein who says we SHOULD go then does this mean we are allowed to shave for it?? Also as the wedding is on Rosh Chodesh anyway does this also mean that we can shave?? When is one permitted to shave during the sefira?? (if at all)
Answer:

Let me clarify that I did not write the article nor do I take any responsibility for it.

According to R' Moshe Feinstein zatzal one who attends a chasuna even during his part of sefira may cut his hair and shave if the need is so great that he would otherwise not attend since the mitzva of simchas chasan v'kallah is great enough to allow one to be lenient regarding the halachos of sefira. Rosh Chodesh is even less of a problem, as not shaving on Rosh Chodesh is not a definative halacha but a pert of the tzavah of R' Yehudah HaChasid.

Others who may get a haircut include the mohel sandak and father at a bris and a chasan.
