Miscellaneous - pidyon haben
Submitted by LK  Answered by Rav Peretz Moncharsh
Question: I thought that abortion or miscarriage were obstacles to performing a pidyon haben, now I read that it is possible if the miscarriage happened before the 8th week. So I have a question: Can we perform a pidyon haben given that I once had an abortion before the 7th week of pregnancy by taking a pill that provoked a miscarriage ? thanks in advance, LK
Answer: If the fetus was aborted less than 40 days after conception, then the following boy would require a Pidyon HaBen.
