|Halacha - Hopefully Kosher shaver|
|Submitted by David Answered by Rav Peretz Moncharsh|
|Question: Dear Rabbi- I recently began shaving for professional reasons and bought a rotary-head electric shaver which I believe meets halakhic requirements. It has no lift blades, only cutting blades. I would like to be more sure, but I have not received a reply from my question to a well-known website. Please advise if in your opinion, this model is acceptable- http://remington-products.com/mensshavers/rotary_r5130.htm thank you kindly, David B.
As far as I can tell from the information on the website it should be OK since it does not seem to have any lift-and-cut mechanism.

Thank you once again, Rabbi. May Hashem look with great favor on your many efforts to help others in the obedience of mitzvot!

If you put you fingers on your face in front of the ear and open and close your jaw you can feel a joint. The sideburns must reach to this point, which is approximately mid-ear. Of course it is best to leave youself a little leeway.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question, Rabbi. Would you be able to tell me how far down I need to let my sideburns grow (e.g. ear lobe, mid-ear, etc.) so that I do not "round the corners of my head"?
