Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach: Not All Lies Are Lies
There was a senile old man who refused to eat.  Whenever they told him he has to eat, he would say that he can't because he didn't daven yet.  His attendant asked Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach (Aleihu Lo Yibol CM 17) if he may lie to him and tell him that he saw him daven already even if he didn't actually see?

Rav Shlomo Zalman said that this is not called a lie and he may in fact tell him this because he is not getting any benefit from telling this lie and it is for the good of the person he is lying to.  When asked for a Mekor, although Rav Shlomo Zalman didn't feel it needed a source since it was obvious, nevertheless he said that the Mekor was from Rabbeinu Yonah who writes that you may lie about the time to a lazy person in order to get him moving.
