|Chodesh Sivan - A Rough Last Week of The Month, Any Lessons Learned?|
|The last week of Sivan was a disastrous one for Bnei Yisroel in the Midbar. It was three failures one after another and they seem to be related. The lessons didn't seem to be learned in a productive way. The Gemara in Taanis Daf 29 describes the sequences of events as follows.|
All told, during the last week of Sivan three significant incidences occurred; the sin of Miriam, the argument of Korach, and the sending of the Meraglim. It may be possible to say that the common thread between these events was a lack of respect for our leaders; the speaking of Lashon HaRah against Moshe Rabbeinu, the arguing against Moshe Rabbeinu and the Am Yisroel pushing the leaders to do something not very wise.
Since the last week of Sivan is a period where Klal Yisroel sinned in this way, it must be an appropriate time for us to take this issue to heart and rectify our ways in this area.
